“Argo”

On November 4th 1979 thousands of Iranian students gathered outside the US Embassy in Tehran carrying signs and shouting their hatred for the United States. When they finally managed to cut the chain securing the front gate they poured in sure in the knowledge the US Marines guarding the embassy would not fire on them. They were right. Once inside they captured 52 US diplomats, Marines and embassy staff, blindfolded them and paraded them before the cameras. These hostages would be held by the Iranians for 444 days.
