- Holiday Displays Hijacked By Atheist Group! HELP!
For ten years I worked in the thriving beach community of Santa Monica, California. Each year, during the month of December, I was blessed by the Menorah and the various Nativity displays that were lined along the thoroughfare in front of the Pacific Ocean. People came from all over the world to shop, soak up [...]
- Two Wings of The Same Bird
I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat. I am one of those over-analyzed, unpredictable, card-carrying Independents who definitely swings both ways. (PS: Thank God we exist! We’re the only voters out here who the politicians cannot peg.) That said, I was prepared to write a lengthy article on why I pray that Ron Paul [...]

- Second-Class Citizens: Rise Up!
I had a very morbid dream the other night. I dreamt of a man who was stranded in the middle of a desert. The wind was gusty and the sky dark. On his knees, the man writhed in pain as his chest suddenly ripped open, exposing his beating heart. Out of nowhere, pin pricks began [...]
- God’s Fencepost: What’s in a name?
What is in a name? Labeling oneself a Christian and following Jesus in the age of televangelism, clergy abuse, greed and fundamentalism is a tumultuous journey, to say the least. It seems that those of us who promote His tenets of tolerance, unconditional love and respect for all humankind are losing the name “Christian” to [...]
- God’s Fencepost: Light From A Broken Hallelujah
“Maybe there’s a God above But all I’ve ever learned from love Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you It’s not a cry you can hear at night It’s not somebody who has seen the light It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah” -Lyrics from Leonard Cohen’s, “Hallelujah” Our brightest light [...]
- God’s Fencepost: The Seduction of Addiction
Somewhere in America: a housewife sits tormented in her kitchen as her children watch Dora the Explorer, battling whether or not to pop another Vicodin; A man embarrassingly drives across town in hopes of finding an alternate McDonald’s, because he’s already been to the one by his house 3 times that day; A Senator tirelessly [...]
- God’s Fencepost: Our Children
I am not your average Christian. . .or maybe I am. I curse, have a wicked sense of humor and drink an occasional beer – I am also deeply devoted and fiercely passionate about the everlasting love and wisdom of our Creator. He is my muse. So I have decided to come out of the [...]
- Cavemen Are Sexy
Our world is made of men. . .and of cavemen. There is something stone-cold sexy about a man who is unapologetically settled in his own masculinity; a man who prefers Levi’s to Gucci and has never stepped foot into a nail salon. This Fourth of July, I want to savor my freedom of speech by [...]
- Buy Bob’s Business for a Buck
Small businesses are the backbone of America. When I was a kid, a couple of guys used to sell BBQ out of a homemade pit on the side of the road. Despite their meager set-up, people were always lined up for dinner – the food was just that good. One day, a guy named Bob [...]

- Penis Envy
San Francisco needs to ban its people from having any more children. Seriously – this city hates everything. . . They’ve banned Happy Meals, prohibited their citizens from sitting (or resting) on sidewalks during daylight hours, made it illegal to feed birds, fine residents who do not recycle their trash or compost their rotting food, [...]
- Conspiracy of Hope
If you have a heart, a soul, a child and/or a conscience – you cannot go another day ignoring the horrors of child sex trafficking. Every 2 minutes a child is sexually exploited. Today is the day that our collective perspective needs to change. A Few Facts about child prostitution worldwide: Worldwide, there are [...]
- Famewhores vs. Rationally Religious
I don’t know about you, but I’m disgusted by all of the fear-laden, misinformed, famewhore extremists who are garnering worldwide media exposure only to use it as a platform to bastardize God, Faith, and Religion. Pardon my rant, but the last couple of months have been ridiculous. Let’s call a spade a spade on a [...]
- A Mother’s Mustard Seed
Mothers are fierce, vulnerable and beautifully complicated creatures. There is a belief within the Christian tradition that one can move mountains with faith the size of a mustard seed. Jesus said - 20 “. . .Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, [...]
