Has the Airforce Accepted this? “The Air Force Academy has set aside an outdoor worship area for Pagans (The term Pagan generally refers to all religions that are not in the Abrahamic (Pertaining to Abraham, the patriarch; as, the Abrahamic covenant) category, the monotheistic faiths.), Wiccans “(Wicca is a modern Pagan religious movement. The other theological positions within Wicca range from monotheism to atheism). “Druids” (A Druid, they per…

…itings, I am a firm believer in free speech. I usually do not believe in any restrictions, although I accept the restrictions set forth by the Supreme Court because they are logical. I feel the same way about the Freedom of Religion and the Separation of Church and State. Although, I do have some disagreements with how far the Separation of Church and State has gone. In that regard, the Republican controlled House of Representatives in a symb…

…sm, and have raised concerns within our government about the group’s foreign Arab funding. So they are not the most reliable point man in a civil rights suit. None the less they do bring up a valid point. Government and religion should not mix. However Mayor Parris’s “Christian Utopia” is only the tip of the iceberg. He also wants to start each City Council meeting with a Christian prayer. When questioned about this Parris said he thinks m…

…tally, drew major cheers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5sN0mJ2p0g After the incident, I suggested the following: I guess this is what happens to Democrats who pander for votes from “people who cling to their guns and religion.” There was a time in which I would have condemned the booing citing a lack of decorum. But after witnessing the treatment President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush received from the Left between 2…

…t in history. Since that time, Thanksgiving has devolved into a festival of gluttony and continuous football viewing, both of which I heartily endorse. Yet as forces antagonistic to prayer, expressions of faith, the notion of religion and mere mention of God coalesce and gain power in our society, it’s important to be mindful of the day’s original intent. It is not a day, as Barack Obama describes in his 2010 Thanksgiving Proclamation, merely “to…

… seemed on the superficial level to offer continuity, it was actually an ideological reversal, back to the Liberal wing of the Republican Party. Though he lambasted his opponent Michael Dukakis, tarring him with the “Liberal” label, which Reaganism had turned into a dirty word, Bush himself was every bit a Progressive. His admitted trouble with “the vision thing” prevented him from continuing with Reagan’s unfinished work: shrinking government, e…

…aside, Obama is beginning to show how much of an old fashioned politician he really is. He ran on the basis of change. During the campaign, he argued that America is no longer a Christian nation and that people cling to their religion when they are unhappy about their lives. Now, that he needs religion to help his cause, he goes running to religion. This is not change. He is a hypocrite! The next issue is very controversial and, unfortunately, it…

…n. The title of the evening was something to the effect that this organization protects the Bill of Rights. I had to really hold my tongue on that one. In fact the pamphlet given to all attendees stated Freedoms of the Press, Religion, etc., as the cornerstone of the ACLU. Nowhere on this pamphlet was there any mention whatsoever of the Right to Bare Arms. Being a lawyer, I am pretty sure this would also be considered part of the Bill of Rights. …

…e letter, you will take all, take half, lose or get a pass. The dreidel game was popular during the rule of Antiochus before the Maccabees’ revolt, a time when soldiers executed any Jews who were caught practicing their religion. When pious Jews gathered to study the Torah, they had the top ready in case they heard soldiers approaching. If the soldiers appeared, they would hide the holy scriptures and pretend to play with the dreidel. The w…

… of these circumstances, the use of the word hero is trivialized. A deeper problem is that ides of myth, legend and story hold a society’s culture together. The concept of the hero is central to these. By misapplying the hero label and refraining from using it when needed takes our culture in the wrong direction. I hope we can recover the sense of propriety about who we call a hero and what they did to be considered brave before it’s too late. A …
