Now, that I’m trying to have something new posted everyday, which by the way is not easy, I will have more guest writers. The writer today is my godmother’s cousin. I have known him for more than 30 years. He is a graduate of West Point and currently lives on the east coast. He has recently started his own blog entitled “Scribere est cogitare”. You can find it at: http://scribereestcogitare.blogspot.com/ My plan is still …

…ale (now the Air Force Academy): The Superstitions of “Academic Freedom” a prediction of serious problems, coming true, of the trajectory and nature of modern conservatism. A Pagan Image – What happened to the Judeo-Christian God? Buckley concluded in 1951, a fact today, that academia denied its students any sense of individualism pushing them, like the New York Times article (hyperlink above) 11/27/2011 “The Future of the Obama Coalition”, Tho…

As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s instructive to remember the holiday was first proclaimed by President George Washington as “a day of public thanksgiving and prayer” prompted by the “duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor.” Painting of George Washington praying alone at Valley Forge, said to be based on an actual moment …

Last week Lancaster Mayor Rex Parris was giving his yearly State of the City address when he made the remark that he was “growing a Christian community”. Almost immediately the Council on American-Islamic Relations filed a federal Civil Rights Complaint with the Department of Justice citing that the Mayors remarks violated the civil rights of non Christians. This is the same Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) that was named as an un…

…mportant that I be right? Why do I chafe at the notion that there is someone who thinks they are “better” than me? The answer is that I am a sinner who does not rightly acknowledge the dominion and authority of the Most High God. I have often identified with the psalmist when he says, “I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked… they are not stricken like the rest of mankind… pride is their necklace… their hearts overf…

… seemed on the superficial level to offer continuity, it was actually an ideological reversal, back to the Liberal wing of the Republican Party. Though he lambasted his opponent Michael Dukakis, tarring him with the “Liberal” label, which Reaganism had turned into a dirty word, Bush himself was every bit a Progressive. His admitted trouble with “the vision thing” prevented him from continuing with Reagan’s unfinished work: shrinking government, e…

I had a very morbid dream the other night. I dreamt of a man who was stranded in the middle of a desert. The wind was gusty and the sky dark. On his knees, the man writhed in pain as his chest suddenly ripped open, exposing his beating heart. Out of nowhere, pin pricks began appearing on his arms and he slowly bled from each new opening. As he cried to God in agony, his face grew desperate and his eyes bloodied with tears. For some strange …

…e House Diaries Mary “Capitalism only works in an environment of intentional virtue” – Adam Smith Since we know that people do not practice virtue, regulation is necessary to the success of capitalism. Even God knew we need regulation. He gave us the ten commandments! Barry Mary, I would have to disagree. Socialism and Communism require far more virtue than Capitalism. Capitalism expects people to behave selfishly, motivated by…

…igious ornaments on it. Well if it is not a “Christmas Tree,” what is it? Has anybody ever turned down a Christmas bonus or worked on December 25? I don’t want to insult or disrespect anybody’s beliefs. Whether you believe in God or a prophet or nothing at all, there is no reason to change Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays? The vast majority still want it that way. It has been that way for hundreds of years, so let’s keep it that way. What will o…

God provides the moral stability that every standard of conduct is based. Honor: Your word is paramount in this world. A true Conservative would never let their honor come into questio…
