…oliticians and the people who put them in power seem determined to destroy the state’s economy in order to achieve some higher purpose. Nowhere is this clearer than in the bizarre economics of California’s tax and energy policies. Were California to shut down its entire manufacturing sector, turn off its power plants, idle its trucks and automobiles, and order its citizens to stop exhaling, the impact on the global atmospheric concent…

…t accomplished this week, but found that I have spent every day laying in bed, flipping through television channels, or staring at the ceiling. Well at least during the time I was not asleep. I found that I had absolutely no energy to even get out of bed. And if I could gather enough energy, I was so dizzy and wobbly it was a chore to even get from one place to another. I have MSA-A, the autonomic part of the disease. It was formerly known as…

Please accept my apologies for not writing an article last week. I find that I may be in the stage of MSA that seems to zap all my energy. I find that no matter how small the activity, I have to stay in bed and conserve what energy I can just to get through it. And no matter how much I rest trying to recharge, it doesn’t seem to help. Although I am officially retired from my city council position, I guess I can’t retire from politics. I find…

…story is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance. It is incomprehensible that the man who wrote and delivered that speech against apartheid would ever side…

The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, more commonly known as the Cap and Trade Bill is dangerous for the country and potentially disastrous for the economy. I cannot say this more simply. This bill which is designed to lower emissions and stop global warming will do nothing except raise the average Americans’ expenses and cause the loss of many American jobs. The bill passed in the House last week by a margin of less than ten votes…

The year was 1980. The President was Jimmy Carter. Under Carter’s leadership, the United States was experiencing stagflation, high unemployment, an energy crisis was brewing, and the Iran hostage crisis was in full effect. While he began his term with a 66% approval rating, it had dropped to 34% (with 55% disapproving). It was also an election year… and Ronald Reagan was Carter’s opponent. On November 4, 1980, Reagan took 44 states and won …

…of the Obama Coalition”, Thomas Edsall, by pushing “takers” into a non-working, entitlement, nanny state, socialistic philosophical ideology. Republicanism is not lost but it is certainly a candidate for a “Progressive Lite” label….or what as “Congress is Useless” all about? http://www.hollywoodrepublican.net/2011/11/congress-is-useless/ And all that is supported in academia today is under the myth of “academic freedom”. Collectivism and totalit…

… of these circumstances, the use of the word hero is trivialized. A deeper problem is that ides of myth, legend and story hold a society’s culture together. The concept of the hero is central to these. By misapplying the hero label and refraining from using it when needed takes our culture in the wrong direction. I hope we can recover the sense of propriety about who we call a hero and what they did to be considered brave before it’s too late. A …

…. That was in 2006. It’s hard to pinpoint the exact date you start MSA symptoms, so it’s things like this that help us determine the stages we are in. This upcoming week will be a busy one so I am trying to conserve as much energy as I can. Monday I have my water therapy that my friend Ray has been taking me to for the past few months. Sometimes they are very hard for me to get through, and they wipe me out, but hopefully they are helping me k…

…e sat for a little while discussing the trip and what we expected from our visit with Dr. Charles Ide at Western Michigan University the next day. The rest of the evening was challenging for me since I knew I had spent all my energy over the past two days. It was just a reminder to me that I was not pacing. We had to sit for a while at the tables provided in the pool area because I was then too dizzy to stand. Susan got towels and wetted them …
