Why We Don’t Need a New Dream Act by Al Ramirez

May 2, 2012
Al Ramirez - Senate Candidate 2012

The Dream Act has been stuck on Capitol Hill for a decade. Now even Marco Rubio is trying to introduce a “Republican version”. I don’t think there’s any such thing. I got involved in the Republican Party during Reagan’s 1980 bid for President because of my two neighbors, Mr. Van Slyke and Mr. Vaughn. They were both respected businessmen in our community and were typical of the nice chamber of commerce types. They started taking me to Republican …

The Free Market Does Not Work? Do You Agree with Obama?

December 10, 2011
AndyStern

…union boss Andy Stern.  And this week, on queue, Obama’s speech indeed mirrored Stern’s opinions, including the notion that  that  free market capitalism does not work in today’s technically advanced, global commerce reality.   The only answer, in their view, is a centrally planned, government-directed economy.  We are now all wards of the state, unable to steer our own destiny and incapable of surviving on our intellect, talent…

Is Obama the Next Nixon or Hoover?

May 1, 2012
Obama Class Warfare

…and Wall Street—letting it be known that those who oppose his policies might face political or legislative retribution.  He lectured the Supreme Court for giving companies more free speech and (falsely) accused the Chamber of Commerce of using foreign money to bankroll U.S. elections.  The White House even ginned up an executive order (yet to be released) to require companies to list political donations as a condition of bidding for government co…

A Few Thoughts from the Set about Current Affairs

February 16, 2009

… weeks? This is just an example of the blind love that certain people in our country have for this man. It is beyond ridiculous. Oh, and by the way, the best president ever would not be having such a difficult time picking a Commerce Secretary. So, far he is 0 for 2. Who will choice number 3 be? Of course, he could never be worse than choice number 2 who voluntarily withdrew his appointment because he did not agree with the President on the stim…

March 31, 2010

…onth which left the president eight votes short of the 60 needed. Recently, these same 41 Senate Republicans sent a letter to the president specifically asking that Becker not be appointed during the recess. The US Chamber of Commerce agrees. Randel Jackson, the Chamber’ s senior vice president, issued the following statement: “This is the first time since 1993 that the Chamber has opposed a nominee to the NLRB. The Chamber’s o…

Where is California’s Representation?

October 21, 2009

… be the greatest State in the union. According to the most recent reports, the unemployment rate in California has reached 12.2%. The rate in Los Angeles County is at 12.7%. Some cities within the county such as Compton and Commerce are over 20%. These are all far worse than the national rate of 9.8%. What makes these numbers even scarier is that they have not hit rock bottom according to economic estimates at both the state and federal level….

Penn State Firefighters Started the Fire

November 20, 2011
Joe Paterno

…t is escaping justice. Who would not suffer mistakes to protect our loved ones and our noble nation?  Collateral damage, it does exist, has justification in war (war against sovereign and local evil) and peace. And as we make commerce of the pain and suffering of children it might be worth a thought that over zealousness to protect the children is desirable, courageous and laudable. This will not be the case as institutions, the Catholic Church, …
