The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, more commonly known as the Cap and Trade Bill is dangerous for the country and potentially disastrous for the economy. I cannot say this more simply. This bill which is designed to lower emissions and stop global warming will do nothing except raise the average Americans’ expenses and cause the loss of many American jobs. The bill passed in the House last week by a margin of less than ten votes…

…with Reagan’s unfinished work: shrinking government, eliminating overreaching federal departments and returning power to the states. Though Bush was engaged on economics on the macro level, mixing comfortably with the G-8 and captains of worldwide industry, he seemed out of touch with how policy might impact working folks whom Reagan had brought into the Party. Bush 41’s mesmerized reaction to a grocery scanner spoke volumes about his distance fr…

…ould be taxed at $175,000. That unfortunately is the way the tax code works. The bill additionally states that any individual without medical insurance would be forced to pay a penalty of 2.5 percent of his/her income up to a cap of the cost of medical insurance. In Southern California medical insurance for an individual runs approximately $6,000 per year. So, someone making $250,000 per year would be paying $6,750 per year more in taxes. How did…

I have been a California resident for the past 23 years. During that time, I have seen the best of times and worst of times. Prior to this economic disaster, the only serious recession in those 23 years was in 1991-1992. At that time, myself and many others in similar situations faced economic turmoil. However, nothing comes close to what is happening now in what used to be the greatest State in the union. According to the most recent reports…

And, North Korea does whatever it wants and will soon, not only have nuclear weapons, but will also have missiles capable of delivering them. Most recently, the tape from Osama Bin Laden is just another example of the failure of President’s Obama’s policy. After his speech in Egypt, everyone on the left believed the Radical Moslems woul…

It has been six months since the Administration took office and the far left have taken complete control of the government. Has our capitalist past been improved upon? Or, is the socialism we have had thrust upon us making us worse off? Has the foreign policy of appeasement and apology made the world a safer place? To put it more simply, are you better off now than you were six months ago? Unfortunately, the answer is not only “no,” but “much wo…

… to the pragmatism that he was so famous for? Now, in the last few days, I don’t see “hope” any longer, I see anger and frustration. He’s almost behaving like a school boy who isn’t getting his way. This stimulus bill and the cap on CEO earnings should not be passed or permitted to happen. Under its current state, it truly is socialism in disguise. In fact, the cap on corporate executive earnings announced a few days ago actually reeks of central…

… of these circumstances, the use of the word hero is trivialized. A deeper problem is that ides of myth, legend and story hold a society’s culture together. The concept of the hero is central to these. By misapplying the hero label and refraining from using it when needed takes our culture in the wrong direction. I hope we can recover the sense of propriety about who we call a hero and what they did to be considered brave before it’s too late. A …
