I got a letter the other day from the “esteemed” Governor from the State of California, Edmund G. Brown Jr. Usually when I get a letter from a political party, candidate or sitting official it takes a one way trip to the shredder unopened; then right to the recycling bin. This letter however slipped through and was opened with the rest of my mail. I figured since it was open I may as well read it; I needed a good laugh anyway. Well I got one …

Over the weekend California Governor Jerry Brown announced the grim news that the Golden State’s budget deficit had almost doubled to $16 billion – more than 17 percent of the new budget year’s $92.6 billion spending plan. Immediately, protesters descended on the state Capitol to demand more welfare spending in a state that already hosts one-third of all of America’s welfare recipients. As a California state lawmaker for six years, this cycle is…

… this all in perspective. Everyone agrees that insurance companies must not be allowed to continue doing business as usual. Regulations need to be put in place to prevent things like the 39% rate increase Anthem Blue Cross of California just inflicted on its policy holders. Both the federal government and the California Insurance commissioner have asked Anthem to explain the increase. As of today they have yet to answer. Things like this cannot b…

As you all know, I supported and worked with Al Ramirez in his failed attempt to unseat Barbara Boxer in November. As you also know, Al was unsuccessful in the primary and Carly Fiorina was the GOP nominee. Again, as you also know, Carly was shellacked by Barbara Boxer. Big surprise there? Not! Al Ramirez’ 2010 U.S. Senate campaign slogan was “Make California Special” to emphasize a plan for economic rebound. With a Special Election to repla…

Dannemeyer (California, ’67) – Was a superior court judge before returning to the California State Assembly; has some radical views, but he has nothing in his background that supports that he was ever opposed to Civil Rights, segregation, etc. Allison Kolb (Louisiana, ’67) – A former state aud…

… Two invocations were given by the Rev. Maxine Shiltz of the metaphysical Revealing Truth Center and one by a Girl Scout leader.” The Daily News also reported that last August, the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California sent a letter to Lancaster officials saying it considered the invocation policy unconstitutional and warning of legal action unless it was halted. The City Council responded by putting the issue on the ballot. M…

Maurice Gordon Chase was born in the small town of Dinuba California on March 17th 1919. He would later study at St. Paul’s College in Washington and be ordained by Archbishop Fulton J. …vote in these two states. It could be just enough to tip them to the left. Cinco de Mayo was celebrated a few days ago. This is a national holiday in Mexico. In some states with large Mexican populations including Arizona and California, it is becoming a day of celebration too. A group of students in a Southern California High School decided that they were going to celebrate America on Cinco de Mayo by wearing shirts with the American Flag on the…
