Starting from the shop floor in the late 70’s, Kim is one of the last film professionals (now a Production Designer) who apprenticed the old studio way. Trained by some of the best from the golden age of Hollywood, in 1984 Kim established Starlight Effects for design, commercials, props, mechanicals & visual effects. Noted for work on Star Trek, Stargate, Strange Days, Mission Impossible, Deep Impact, Mission to Mars, Team America, Alien Resurrection, Meet the Fockers, Space Above & Beyond and many others, it’s the Web Series that has recognized his talents with the inaugural Streamy Award for Production Design and just recently the 2014 Los Angeles Movie Awards for Production Design. While Kim is known for his science in science fiction, it’s his ability cross over many time periods and settings combined with his vast experience in design, construction, FX & VFX, production, business, finance, branding and applied technology that truly sets him apart.
