I stayed up late last night to watch a Clint Eastwood movie, perhaps in a token gesture of solidarity with the iconic American actor who most visibly represented the Hollywood conservative community at the Republican National Convention.

I’d like to lift an excerpt from the book describing a private dinner that Obama held for nine prominent historians – Doris Kearns Goodwin, Michael Beschloss , Robert Caro, Robert Dallek, David Brinkley, HW Brands, David Kennedy, Kenneth Mack and Garry Wills. Apparently this event took place not long after the Obama’s took up residence in the White House.
