“Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves,” “Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”
Well Governor Cuomo, I beg to differ. I was born in New York. I live in California now because of business. But, I still consider myself, a New York Conservative. Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker. In fact, my whole family, many of whom are still living in the state, are all New York Conservatives. Most of my friends in New York are New York Conservatives. And, we are substantially, all pro-life and for the Second Amendment. We are not anti-Gay. We may be against Gay marriage, but we are not Anti-Gay. A small but substantial distinction. We do not believe in free spending and higher taxes like you do and never will. So, you should maybe think a little more before you say something as stupid as you did last week.
In fact, according to Wikipedia, 25% of the state’s voters are registered Republicans. And, I’m sure they all feel like they belong in New York. They are just as much New Yorkers as you, yourself are. Most of them are hard working, blue collar employees. Many of them are high income earners living in Manhattan and working on Wall Street. In fact, I guarantee you a larger percentage of the tax base in your states consists of New York Conservatives more than are New York Liberals. I wonder how you, Mr. Cuomo, would feel if suddenly the entire population of New York Conservatives chose to go to Florida or Texas as Sean Hannity stated was his intention last night. What would happen to your overbloated spending at that point? Where would they get the money to pay all the entitlement programs that are bankrupting the state.
Mr. Cuomo – you should be careful what you wish for!
New York is a great state. For many decades it was the state with the highest population in the country. In fact, up until California surpassed it about forty years ago, it was the most populous state for most, if not all, of this country’s history. Since, then it has been surpassed by, not only California, but also Texas and now, maybe even Florida. People are leaving the state because of its high taxes and lack of opportunity. Maybe, Mr. Cuomo, it is the liberal policies of your government that are causing people to leave in droves. At some point, New York City may be the next Detroit and New York State may be the next Michigan. I would hate to see that happen in my life time, but it wasn’t so long ago that Detroit was the pride of the United States. Fifty years of liberal policies have destroyed that once proud city and its state.
In fact, New York City itself was bankrupt after many years of liberal leaders. It took eight years of Rudy Giuliani and 12 years of Bloomberg to fix the mess that the Lindsey, Koch, Beam and Dinkins years created. Now, after 20 years of intelligence, the people of New York, chose a borderline communist to run the city. I predict it will take him less than one term to wipe out the last 20 years and bring New York City back to its knees.
So, Mr. Cuomo, keep Detroit in mind when you insult Conservatives. Keep Rudy Giuliani in mind when you insult conservatives. Keep Sean Hannity in mind. In fact, think about all of those tax paying Conservatives that you represent. Because, contrary to what you think or say, they are just as much New Yorkers as you are. In fact, maybe even more so.
