As most of you know, I have not written an article for this page in quite a long time. In the beginning, it was because I was busy making a movie. However, that was only the partial reason. In actuality, it was more of an excuse. The reality was and is that I was becoming very apathetic about politics. Part of me was beginning to think the majority of the American people were satisfied with the way things were and the way things were going, even though polls showed otherwise. The American Public just didn’t seem to care enough to change things. What had happened to the grass roots movement that created the Tea Party?
Unfortunately, that problem has not gone away at all.
I regularly watch most of the news channels, and, yes that does include, MSNBC, Al Jazeera and RT (“Russian Times”). I like to get all sides of every issue. I choose to be a conservative because I truly believe that Conservative Principles are necessary for the survival and growth of this Republic. I also truly believe that Liberals and their policies will eventually bankrupt and destroy the country the same way they have done in numerous other regimes, the Soviet Union being only one example.
Well, now, 2013 is over so let’s say goodbye 2013. We are now in the midst of a new year: 2014 And, yes Virginia, it is an election year. It is a chance to get those conservative principles back into control of the government and to hopefully, create the second Reagan revolution. Or, maybe it is more of another Gingrich revolution. Because as most of you know, 2014 is not a presidential election, it is a Congressional election.
In order to accomplish our goals and to stop prolific spending we must dethrone Harry Reid and put a strong conservative in as the Senate Majority Leader. Unfortunately, I do not believe Mitch McConnell is the correct person for this job. McConnell, albeit a good public servant, is nothing more than a Big Government Republican. At this point, I do not know who that new leader is, but I know it is not him. In 2014, there are 35 seats up for grabs in the Senate. We need to flip five in order to take over the Senate. And, these 5 must be Conservatives. More McConnell’s and McCain’s will not help. In fact, on another note, Mr. McCain, your time has come to retire.
Secondly, we must increase our majority in the House. It would be nice to get a veto proof House, but I don’t foresee that happening in any of the coming election cycles, let alone 2014. But, another 20 or 30 seats will send the occupant of the White House into a bit of a panic. He will have to compromise or he will have to accept the fact that he will be “do nothing” President, which is actually better than the alternative of him doing something.
So, let’s look at 2014 with renewed enthusiasm. Let’s get rid of the apathetic doldrums. I will try to do my part. I can only hope that the Conservative Majority in this country will do the same. After all, it did seem to get “Duck Dynasty” and its leader Phil Robertson back on the air.
In closing, I shall say, “Goodbye 2013” one more time. And, good riddance.
