Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Republican or a Conservative party? Sound like McCarthyism? No, it is todays’ IRS.
Remember “Kill Romney?” On 8/9/11 Ben Smith and Jonathan Martin of the Politico reported “Obama plan: Destroy Romney.” “Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney,” said a prominent Democratic strategist aligned with the White House. What has changed? Is this the prophetic “Chicago politics”, the soft underbelly of the “partisan holocaust” we are in today? Al Capone was a Chicago gangster who stubbed his toe on tax evasion, the IRS, imagine that?
“The proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things.”
“Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes … but when a long train of abuses and usurpations … evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.” – Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence.
And the burning question “Used to be” what is the role of government? Today the emphasis has shifted dramatically to:
“Are you now or have your ever been a member of the Republican Party or a Conservative Political Action Group?”
“Reward” your Friends and “Punish” your enemies.” It is the Chicago style of politics, dodging evil on all fronts but getting nailed by an IRS malicious misstep. This may be history repeating itself.
“For me, it’s about collaboration.” – National Treasury Employees Union President Colleen Kelley on the relationship between the anti-Tea Party IRS union and the Obama White House. “Obama and the IRS: The Smoking Gun?” by Jeffrey Lord on 5/20/13 “President met with anti-Tea Party IRS union chief, (on 3/31/2010), the day before agency targeted Tea Party.” Well over three years ago.
This was March 31, 2010. If Valerie Bowman Jarrett and David M. Axelrod, they know where the skeletons are, ever kept President Obama truly in the dark, on the issue of any potential scandal, not just plausible deniability, they would have been fired, anathema to a Charles Krauthammer narcissist.
The importance of this revelation “AmSpec Scoop: Obama ‘Met With Anti-Tea Party IRS Union Chief the Day Before Agency Targeted Tea Party” by Tom Blumer 5/20/13 is that it happened 3/31/2010, and the President knew about it because he crafted and signed that Executive Order 13522 clearing the way for the IRS persecution of Conservative groups and individuals.
Jeffrey Lord of the American Spectator tore apart the Inspector General’s report which argues that the IRS developed an “inappropriate criteria” in focusing on conservative groups. Lord studiously analyzed the White House logs finding relationships between meetings and timelines. In a bold analysis, “Lord’s work represents yet another example of alternative media scooping a lazy or negligent establishment press.” What did Jeffrey Lord find?
“What Jeffrey Lord found is that President Barack Obama met with the President of the National Treasury Employees Union Colleen Kelley, on March 31, 2010. The NTEU is “the 150,000 member union that represents IRS employees along with 30 other separate government agencies.”
“The Inspector General’s report, blandly titled “Inappropriate Criteria Were Used to Identify Tax-Exempt Applications for Review,” indicates that the IRS, in Lord’s words, “set to work in earnest targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups around America” the very next day. Lord’s work is a mandatory read-the-whole-thing item. Excerpts are:
“Obama and the IRS: The Smoking Gun? President met with anti-Tea Party IRS union chief the day before that agency targeted Tea Party.” This happened at 12:30pm that Wednesday noon time of March 31st 2010.
The very next day Colleen Kelley, according to the IGs’ Report, - set to work in earnest targeting the Tea Party and conservative groups around America. The IG report wrote it up this way:
“April 1-2, 2010: The new Acting Manager, Technical Unit, suggested the need for a Sensitive Case Report on the Tea Party cases. The Determinations Unit Program Manager Agreed.” And the IGs’ Report continues with the “dots”.
On yet another occasion, Kelley’s presence at the White House was followed shortly afterwards by the President issuing Executive Order 13522. A presidential directive that gave the anti-Tea Party NTEU – the IRS union – a greater role in the day-to-day operation of the IRS than it had already – which was considerable.
Executive Order 13522, “Creating Labor-Management Forums to Improve Delivery of Government Services,” (October 9, 2009). The charter for the Forum was approved on April 21, 2010, at the meeting of the Forum and signed by management and labor members of the Forum.
The directive was designed to: “Allow employees and unions to have pre-decisional involvement in all workplace matters….
However else this December 2009 Executive Order can be described, the directive was a serious grant of authority within the IRS to the powerful anti-Tea Party union.”
And it was an Executive Order 13522, approved April 21, 2010, with President Obama’s direct influence and knowledge of, all over it. This was surly the nexus for the “dots”, the “smoking gun”!
United States Presidents issue executive orders, in this case Executive Order 13522, to help officers and agencies of the executive branch manage the operations within the federal government itself. Executive orders have the full force of law. They are tied unequivocally and directly to the President!
Is this the “smoking gun” link that connects President Obama to IRS officials Lois G. Lerner, Bonnie Esrig, Steven Miller, Joseph Grant (In the IRS hierarchy, Grant oversaw Lerner), and Douglas Shulman? One may not find anything closer to an “absolutism”.
Obama-ism historically may well be modern day McCarthyism. It is the practice of making accusations, acting on them, of disloyalty, subversion, or treason, or simply punishing his enemies, a political version of the Al Capone style of Chicago politics, without proper, any regard for evidence.
It also means “the practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism. Will he also fail, tripped by the IRS?
During the McCarthy era, thousands of Americans were accused of being Communists or communist sympathizers and became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before government or private-industry panels, committees and agencies. The primary targets of such suspicions were government employees, those in the entertainment industry, educators and union activists. Suspicions were often given credence despite inconclusive or questionable evidence, and the level of threat posed by a person’s real or supposed leftist associations or beliefs was often greatly exaggerated.
Many people suffered loss of employment and/or destruction of their careers; some even suffered imprisonment. Most of these punishments came about through trial verdicts later overturned, laws that would be declared unconstitutional, dismissals for reasons later declared illegal or actionable, or extra-legal procedures that would come into general disrepute.
President Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday 5/18/13 to reassure the American people that he has “played no role whatsoever” in the U.S. government over the past four years.
“Right now, many of you are angry at the government, (the IRS, the Justice Department, the EPA, Homeland Security, the Department of Health and Human Services, etc. etc. etc.) and no one is angrier than I am,” he said. Pray tell, who did we elect?
“Quite frankly, I am glad that I have had no involvement in such an organization.”
The President’s outrage only increased, he said, when he “recently became aware of a part of that government called the Department of Justice.”
“The more I learn about the activities of these individuals, the more certain I am that I would not want to be associated with them,” he said. “They sound like bad news.”
Mr. Obama closed his address by indicating that beginning next week he would enforce what he called a “zero tolerance policy on governing,” reported The New Yorker’s Andy Borowitz. It is always next week, or after a commission report, which he most assuredly will ignore…..“he” …never accountable.
Are we not allowed to disabuse ourselves of irrational respect and at least question that the White House is again trampling on our Constitutional rights, to wit we charge those accountable, “Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?”
But then this is the Chicago way.
