The Death of a Republic

Alexander Tyler Death of a republicIn 1887 Alexander Tyler , a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.” Democracies always commit suicide.

A democracy, in the throws of the destruction of a Republic, will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover the difference between self-interest and selfishness. The viral symptoms are the erosion of fundamentals, the symptoms being:

They will vote themselves ever increasing and generous unsustainable gifts from the public treasury.

From that moment on, the majority will always vote for the candidates who pander, promise and deliver the most benefits from the public treasury, The Federal Reserve, the Great, no collateral, Fiat Money Printing Press.

The historic promise and guarantee is that every democracy will finally collapse over loose, cynical fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years, pray tell, how old is America?

During those 200 years, these nations, focus onAmerica, always progressed through the following remarkable, consistent, repeatable, and stubborn sequence:

  • From any form of bondage to some form of spiritual faith;
  • From spiritual faith to great courage, audacity, valor and bravery;
  • From that field of courage to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness;
  • From freedom to sustaining wealth;
  • From wealth and abundance to self gratification and complacency;
  • From self gratification, complacency to apathy and lethargy;
  • From lethargy to dependence and reliance;
  • From reliance back into bondage.”

The Obituary follows: Born 1776, Died 2012.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law inSt. Paul, Minnesota points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

  • Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29:
  • Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000:
  • Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million:
  • Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain:
    2.1

Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this country.

President Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…”

Olson believes theUnited Statesis now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler ‘s definition of democracy, with some forty plus percent of the nation’s population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase. Those who pay taxes is or has moved lower than 50% of the taxing paying eligible public. The top 5% percent ofAmerica“producers” pay an estimated more than 80% of the taxes.

“California’s rising standards of living and outstanding public schools and universities once attracted millions seeking upward economic mobility. But then something went radically wrong asCalifornialegislatures and governors built a welfare state on high tax rates, liberal entitlement benefits and excessive regulation. The results, though predictable, are nonetheless striking.”

“From the mid-1980s to 2005, California’s population grew by 10 million, while Medicaid recipients soared by 7 million; tax filers paying income taxes rose by just 150,000; and the prison population swelled by 115,000.”

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal, some tort, some civil, offenders, invaders called illegal’s – and they vote – then we can say goodbye to theUSA, as founded, in fewer than a dozen years.

We must all help everyone to realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom. This is truly ominous and scary!

Of course we are not a democracy, all democracies commit suicide, we are a Constitutional Republic. Someone should point this out to President Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to Our Constitution. There couldn’t be more at stake than on Nov 2012.

    Holy fucking god, you’re freaking kidding me. You’re THAT desperate to diminish Obama’s victory? The same people who proudly swept George Bush into office because he was a few hundred votes ahead in Florida (thanks to thousands of blacks being prevented from voting because they had similar names to convicted felons) when the counting stopped and the Supreme Court wouldn’t let it continue because Gore might come out ahead? Now you’re counting square mileage and counties to paint McCain as the winner?

    It boggles the mind some days, it truly does.

    YOU FUCKING LOST. And since you can’t even hack up a candidate that any of YOU like, you’re about to lose AGAIN. And very BADLY.

    Fucking deal with it.

    Infants!

        What a weird, weird thing to say. Who but the columnists here have photos? Why would I be the exception? YOU don’t have a photo. This is Harvard grad Romney bagging on Obama for being a Harvard grad all over again.

        Why is everyone here so goddamn dumb? It’s just uncanny.

          Only morons result to use of vulgar profanity it shows a profound lack of both intelligence and vocabulary. Liberalism is a mental disorder take your medication or go back to your rubber rooms.,

    >>Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

    Fantastically misleading stat. Just unreal. “Oh my God, look how many more criminals like Obama than McCain.”

    Or possibly, more people who live in actual big cities where more crime happens…not to mention more education, more reading, more awareness of current events, more appreciation of science, etc….preferred Obama.

    Gee, can’t imagine why.

    Professor Joseph Olson is clearly a class-A moron. Hard to believe an exalted institution like Hamline University would have a moron working there, but here we are.

    Amazing how quickly the trolls got here to comment with utter nonsense! Give it up and leave Bush alone. Old tactic and no longer relevant! All three independent investigations (even those paid for by the DNC mind you) showed that Bush won Florida by a clear and large amount. They also showed how much fraud (80% democratic I might add) there was during that election. Why do you think after all the fuss… you hardly heard a word about the results in the liberal media!!! You can’t repeat lies and make it so anymore. :)

    Now, onto the rest of your lying claims regarding this article. Check your dear leaders own government web sites regarding the facts used for the statements in this article and if you want to call someone a liar, please by all means… address them where they belong, with the your dear leaders own data lol. By way, this author didn’t even express in full measure specific facts regarding major cities and states which have the highest crime rate, highest unemployment, highest welfare participation etc. AND which party for the majority of the last 20-40 years have been in charge of them.

    Come back when you can back your statements with facts, until then… we’re laughing at your ignorance as well as guarded by your willingness to outright lie.

    Sincerely,
    LaughingAtYou :)

      “Bush won Florida by a clear and large amount.”

      Warping history to suit your rhetoric doesn’t change what really happened. It was a 5-4 decision by the Supreme Court… very partisan. Just like some of the other 5-4 decisions (Citizens united, Strip searches for minor offenses, not allowing the prosecution of cops who lie on the stand). By the way… these are the decisions that are slowing chipping away at freedom… not health care that really should be a universally provided in a first world country like America. And… not allowing women to get similar wages to men, not allowing women to have access to birth control/ abortions… how is that “freedom”?? Freedom is a loose term that you use to suit your ideology… and your religious beliefs. Its funny how your ideology does not involve offering health care to children, adults and seniors.

      Florida is slowly regressing.. with its weird laws “testing welfare recipients for drugs (even though the percentage of welfare recipients on drugs is way lower than the national average)”, “stand your ground (shoot anyone you feel like if they annoy you)”, need I say more.

    <<>>

    What a joke. The red states suck off the Federal teet at a prodigious rate. It is the blue staters that pay out the most while recieving the least in return.

    I’ll also agree with the previous poster that poo-poohed your demographic data; utter nonsense.

      Exactly. Thank you. And good catch on the quote as well.

    >>>Amazing how quickly the trolls got here to comment with utter nonsense! Give it up and leave Bush alone. Old tactic and no longer relevant!

    Uh, right. Bush is no longer relevant. The guy who spent eight years wrecking the country just a few years ago, the guy who got us in wars we’re still in and an economic abyss we’re just starting to climb out of and nominated Supreme Court justices that now help form the majority, is no longer relevant. What’s past is past!

    Whatev’.

    >>All three independent investigations (even those paid for by the DNC mind you) showed that Bush won Florida by a clear and large amount.

    Yeah? Did they show all the non-votes of the thousands of blacks who were prevented from voting because they had similar names to felons? That’s fact, by the way; no one denies that happened. But whatever, they’re just blacks, right? Their bad luck for having those names.

    >>Now, onto the rest of your lying claims regarding this article.

    What lying claims? All I said was that (assuming the stats are true) the reason the crime rate is higher for Obama-voting areas is because they’re mostly big cities where there’s more crime. How could you possibly disagree with that? Was New York City a McCain-supporting area? Or Chicago? Or Los Angeles? Or Detroit? Or D.C.? (Keep going, or…?)

    >>By way, this author didn’t even express in full measure specific facts regarding major cities and states which have the highest crime rate, highest unemployment, highest welfare participation etc. AND which party for the majority of the last 20-40 years have been in charge of them.

    Who gives a shit? What does that have to do with anything? Obviously big cities are ALWAYS going to have more of all those things than some little farming town because THEY’RE BIG CITIES. There’s, you know, MORE of everything. Regardless of who’s in charge. Have you really not thought this through to even the most basic, elementary school level? It’s just sad, this place.

    >>Come back when you can back your statements with facts, until then… we’re laughing at your ignorance as well as guarded by your willingness to outright lie.

    You have no idea what you’re talking about, so here’s a better idea:

    Learn to read.

    *****A democracy, in the throws of the destruction of a Republic, *****

    The “throws,” eh? You probably “poured” over the dictionary while you were stitching alleged facts together at random. For the record, the professor you quote almost certainly meant “throes.”

    But since the people posting essays on this site (a rollicking source of entertainment I just discovered today) seem to believe that one assertion is as good as another, perhaps they also believe that one spelling is as good as another.

    *****President Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…”*****

    This is side-splittingly funny. Has this statistics wiz ever been to, say, the Chicago lakefront or the Upper East Side of NYC, or …. Why even bother typing out what is obvious? While there ARE tenements (alas) in most American cities and many of the people living in them may indeed be welfare recepients, captains of industry have a marked propensity to live in really nice dwellings in those very cities we are instructed to revile because —– gasp! ——- a majority of the registered voters there voted for Barack Obama.

    *****President Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to Our Constitution.*****

    Ahem, we “know” no such thing. Last time I checked, Mr. Obama swore to uphold the founding documents.

    As Frunobulax points out, the Tyler material is questionable in attribution. But let’s accept it as written here, for the sake of argument. Then it wouldn’t really matter WHO happens to be president after the magic two-century mark, would it? Because, according to this, we’re doomed and all. So, even if John McCain were currently President, the USA would still be slipping to its doom. ‘Cause, uh, some Scotsman predicted it.

    In a press meeting this past week, Messrs. Obama and Medvevdev exchanged comments and one Obama faux pas asking for some “space” until his re-election.

    A wish? Or prophesy? Yes, Mr. Obama has already won re-election!

    A software company, from Tampa. Fl, (SOE software.com) has been providing election management solutions to some 900 jurisdictions in some 26 states across the USA. Their program, CLARITY, in a package of 8 modules, has already been successfully used in their electoral process of 2008 (FL) and 2010 (primary and general elections)including voter ID.

    While this was rapidly underway and gaining momentum in the USA, another investment software company SCYTL was being formed and funded in Barcelona, Spain. Venture capitalists:Nauta CApital. com (offices: Barcelon, SP/Boston, Mass.);Balderton Capital (offices; London, UK) Balderton.com; and Spinnaker Capital LLC (offices: Boston, MASS.) spincap.com, were pouring countless millions of dollars into capitalizing, purchasing large quantities of hardware and employees, and tracts of land and buildings into this start-up.

    Marketwatch.com announced the purchase of SOE software.com by SCYTL (for an undisclosed amount) for the sole purposes of tabulating ALL of 2012 November Presidential returns by a central electronic processing company located in Barcelona, Spain.

    Enter Mr. George Soros and his Tides and Priorities overlapping organizations. Difficult to say what, when and where “the puppet masters” fingerprints begin to show up, but that they’re all over this acquisition, plan and execution there is no doubt. Ony tax records will unfold the various layers of capital flows transacted.

    Only Congress has the where-with-all to investigate why a SCYTL company, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, is responsible for America’s 2012 Presidential Election results. Especially when fraud has been uncovered in states already using SOE software companys “CLARITY” programs.

    This contract award screams for urgent review! God Bless America. Otherwise Our USA will fall into the hands of uberrich, greedy, powerseekers and brokers (with re-elected Obama as enabler).Amen.

  9. Spaceghost on April 8, 2012 at 11:50 pm

    >>A wish? Or prophesy? Yes, Mr. Obama has already won re-election!

    You’re an idiot. You’re seriously reading conspiracy into that, that he said he’d have more flexibility after the election. OBVIOUSLY what’s implied there is “Assuming I’m re-elected.” If he isn’t re-elected than it’s a moot point. You’re reading conspiracy into his not actually saying that he might not be re-elected? Jesus, paranoid much?

    >>Otherwise Our USA will fall into the hands of uberrich, greedy, powerseekers and brokers (with re-elected Obama as enabler).

    Hilarious. The REPUBLICANS are afraid of the rich taking over the country. The side who throws a hissy fit whenever anyone THINKS about lowering the taxes of the top 1% back to the Clinton era years are now suddenly afraid of the rich being too powerful.

    Okay, I’ll bite. If that’s your fear, surely you support their tax rates being raised a little, yes?

    Or are you not quite THAT scared?
