Some people were tempted to call it Mila-gate late last week. Others may say she was pressured into it by a potential swarm of bad publicity. But, I give kudos to actress Mila Kunis. Leaving all of her potential left leaning politics aside, she is totally doing the right thing regarding her attendance at the Marine Ball. She decided to confirm her attendance and even went so far as to get the day off from work in order to go.
As some of you know, this whole inconsequential bit of controversy started when Marine Sergeant Scott Moore posted a video on You Tube asking Kunis to the Marine Ball. Somehow, this video got the attention of Justin Timberlake and he mentioned it to Kunis while they were on television promoting their new film Friends with Benefits. She immediately accepted after a little playful pressure from Timberlake on the air.

Then, after a short period of time, the rumors began swirling she was not going. In fact, Billy Bush, the Anchor of Access Hollywood reported late last week, that Kunis would not be attending.
Kunis instantaneously went from being a major supporter of the troops, to a typical Hollywood publicity hound. She went very being a “patriot” on the Bill O’Reilly show to being criticized by all things on the right. In fact, this little incident was turning into a publicity nightmare for both Ms. Kunis and her representatives. She then proved the kind of upstanding person she is by setting the record straight. Instead of hiding behind her publicists, during another press junket for the film a few days later, she called Billy Bush a liar in response to a question from the dais. She told the crowd at the press conference she was going to the ball and had never stated otherwise. She then went even further and stated, when they started applauding her position, that applause was not necessary; she was just doing what she had already agreed to do.

Ms. Kunis is an Obama supporter as can be seen from the below picture. That would make me believe that her thinking is typical Hollywood – leftist. But, there are times when we must stand up for something. And, here Kunis, not only did the right thing, she did it with class.
Regardless of your political views, the troops need our support. Here, Kunis and Timberlake both went beyond the call of duty and supported the troops in a public forum. Whether you agree with the American position in Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya, it does not matter. The troops are out there potentially giving the ultimate sacrifice. Here Kunis definitely is going beyond what is necessary and is doing what every red blooded American should.
Brad Paisley, another true American confirms it in his latest release, “This is Country Music.”
Are you haunted by the echo of your mother on the phone
Cryin’ as she tell you that your brother is not coming home,
And if there’s anyone that still has pride
For the memory of those that died
Defending the old red, what and blue
This is Country Music and we do.
Obvisously, so does Mila Kunis.
I hope both Sargeant Moore and Ms. Kunis have a wonderful time on November 18!
