You may remember Sam Kinison who passed away several years ago. He was a standup comic known for some very biting satire, especially regarding his relationships with women. During one of his routines, he mocked the little voice in his head telling him he was in love. I’m paraphrasing, but I believe the monologue included the following lines -
“Come on, this is love! This is the real thing. This is love. Come on. I wouldn’t lie to you 10 times in a row!”
And of course, the audience roared with laughter at the thought of Kinison being duped repeatedly by women who he claimed where sweet and innocent at the beginning of a relationship, only to transform themselves into vindictive lunatics once the emotional commitment was made. Some may argue that Kinison himself may have had something to do with destructive relationships, but nevertheless, it made for a very funny standup bit. And the line “I wouldn’t like you 10 times in a row” seems fitting in the context of the Barack Obama White House. Clearly, Obama has been caught in more than one lie. But you may have noticed that since Obama began raising money for his 2012 reelection, the outrageous activity and agendas coming out of this administration have been relatively subdued when contrasted with the events of 2010.
Sure, Obama upset many people this week in El Paso Texas when he proclaimed that immigration reform has become a critical issue, however, the fence protecting our southern border “is basically complete”. In reality, the proposed 700 mile double layer border fence promised under the Bush administration five years ago has only had 36.3 miles completed, and of those, only 4.3 miles were built under Obama’s watch. I doubt that 5% represents “basically complete”.
And of course, Obama has been pushing legislation that would force any company doing business with the federal government to disclose political contributions by its officers and directors. It’s a rather transparent attempt to bully corporations into political submission. And clearly, it’s unconstitutional. Perhaps that’s why it failed to pass Congress. Nevertheless, the Obama administration is now attempting to implement this rule by… you guessed it… executive order. No surprise there.
Then there’s the renewed effort by this administration to resurrect subprime lending. In fact, the Justice Department has a new 20 person staff dedicated to prosecuting banks who fail to be coerced into lending money to people with questionable credit or the means to actually repay loans.
Just as egregious are the new marching orders from the White House demanding that Democrats in Congress fall into line regarding ways to fight Republicans over deficit reduction. This nation owes $14.3 trillion, yet Obama wants to borrow another $2 trillion and raise the debt ceiling. Perhaps the fact that the government has no means or intent repay this money is inconsequential, at least to the liberal mindset.
And just in time for summer, gas prices are skyrocketing in to levels not seen since 2008. Obama, of course, is vilifying the oil companies and energy speculators. There’s no mention of his agenda to raise gas prices to unacceptable levels in order to make “green energy” more attractive. That plan was confirmed by his energy secretary, Stephen Chu sometime ago when he uttered “somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe”. Well, it appears that they’re well on their way to completing this mission.
The National Labor Relations Board has also been making waves the past few weeks by going after Boeing’s plans to manufacture 787 Dreamliners in South Carolina. Apparently, Boeing is trying to escape all of the union labor strikes experienced during the past few years in the state of Washington. Not surprisingly, the NRLB is less than sympathetic. Perhaps that’s because it is chaired by ex-union executives, including Craig Becker. So the message is that Boeing executives should take direction from the Obama administration instead of making their own decisions in order to remain profitable.
And to round out this list, unemployment is back above 9%. And it’s ironic that Obama’s most supportive political base, the black community, is now experiencing unemployment at levels not seen since 1972. In fact, less than 57% of black men in his country are employed today under Obama’s watch. There’s no silver bullet for that, even if it is fired at bin Laden’s head.
But the president maintains that he believes in a secure border, a fair, honest and transparent government, a stronger housing sector, a balanced federal budget, reasonable gas prices, a business friendly political climate and low unemployment. Why?
Because he wouldn’t lie to you 10 times in a row. Would he?

What in the world are you talking about?

“Most people who haven’t been to the border imagine it as sort of a straight line. But it’s 2,000 miles, much of which is very rough terrain, including high-elevation areas, the Rio Grande River delta, and canyons. There are two kinds of fences that have been built. One is nuts-and-bolts, concrete and rebar. It’s in pieces and covers about 650 miles of the border. The rest of the border is not covered by any fence that would stop anyone. Geography does the stopping…”
Sweet Lord, there’s just no pleasing you people.
Fox News and Fox Nation are the liars here.
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 authorized 700 miles of double-layer fencing be constructed along the 2,000 mile U.S./Mexico border. In 2007, Kay Bailey Hutchinson, a Republican from Texas, pushed through an amendment to rescind the double-layer requirement. Apparently many of her Texas constituents, ranchers along the border, were opposed to it. Bush signed the 2007 amendment into law, waving the double-fence requirement and allowing the DHS to make the decision about what type of fencing would be used. After 2007, the use of double-layer fencing all but ceased.
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 and 2007 has been completed as per the Bush administration’s guidelines, all 700 miles of it. The Republicans changed the fence requirements in 2007 and are now screaming about it because those requirements are inadequate in stemming the flow of illegal immigration.
Obama is not lying–the Republicans got the fence they legislated, and are now moving the goal posts again. Obama didn’t cause this mess, but it is his responsibility now to clean it up. This is another mess he has inherited from the disastrous Bush
Administration.
