Today’s Forecast: partially sunny with a 20% chance of terror.

This morning, as with most weekday mornings, I stumble out of bed between 4 AM and 5 AM to perform the daily ritual.

  • Make coffee.
  • Feed Maverick before he wakes Karen up with his alley cat crying,
  • Fire up the laptop.
  • Boot up the Mac.

And the question is always the same; what am I going to write about today?  A few clicks later we have our answer.  Read on…

Last Wednesday, December 15, the Obama White House hosted an all-day summit to address what it considers is one of the most serious threats to our national security.  It’s not the START treaty.  It’s not the drug war raging on our southern border.  Not illegal immigration.  Not the recent aggression by North Korea.  Not Iran’s nuclear program.  Not even domestic terrorist attacks by Muslim extremists.  No, the all-day summit was scheduled to confront national security implications of…climate change.

In attendance were

White House Council on Environmental Quality,  Nancy Sutley

EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson

Atty. Gen. Eric Holder

Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar

Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis

Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius

and my personal favorite

DHS Secretary, Janet Napolitano.

They spent the day discussing the concept of “environmental justice”, which the EPA defines as:

“Fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.”

They also contemplated potential security threats of climate change.  According to the DHS:

“(Climate change) has the potential to accelerate and intensify extreme weather events which threatened the nation’s sustainability and security.”

In response, Janet Napolitano announced a new  “Climate Change and Adoption Task Force” charged with answering, in her words, the following questions:

“How will FEMA work with state and local partners to plan for increased flooding or wildfire or hurricane activity that is more serious than we’ve seen before?”

“What assistance can the Coast Guard bring to bear to assist remote villages in, for example, Alaska which already have been negatively affected by changes up in the Arctic?”

“How can we focus on how climate change is going to affect our rural citizenry including those who live along our boarders both northern and southern?”

Atty. Gen. Eric Holder also weighed in with a twisted comparison between the environmental justice movement and the civil rights movement.  He has instructed the Department of Justice to inject environmental issues into ALL law enforcement efforts.

“Dr. Martin Luther King, who really was in some ways the father of our nation’s environmental justice movement, may have put it best when he declared, and this is a phrase that we all know, that ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’”

“The Justice Department has integrated our environmental justice goals into all of our enforcement efforts in our comprehensive strategic plans and that’s why I’ve called on every US Attorney ’s office throughout the country, all 94, to do the same and to start thinking about environmental justice as a civil rights issue. By examining environmental requirements in conjunction with our civil rights laws. I’m confident that we can do a better job of ensuring fairness, advancing justice and making certain that the most vulnerable among us are not left out, left behind, and left to suffer disproportionately,”

Analysis

This is nothing less than a ludicrous attempt to resurrect a dead political agenda.  You may remember that Climategate exposed the motivational greed and self-serving interests of the movers and shakers within the global warming crowd.  Hundreds of memos revealed the falsification of scientific studies, which were commissioned and manipulated to manufacture a world crisis.  That crisis was intended to be used as leverage in order to implement a framework for world governance and oppressive regulation over virtually all human activity.  In the process, it would create a new generation of billionaires, including Al Gore.  It would also create an executive branch with virtually unlimited power.  Fortunately, that plan failed as damaging documents were released proving that temperatures have not risen.  In fact, it has been argued that the planet has been getting slightly colder over the last 15 years.  Undeterred, however, this movement now persists under a different name of “climate change”.

Here’s a news flash.  Climates do change.  It’s called the weather.  And it has absolutely nothing to do with national security, civil rights or the enforcement of justice within the United States.

Despite the surreal statements made by Napolitano and Holder, here is an inconvenient truth;  The mission of the Department of Homeland Security is slowly being corrupted by the Obama administration, just as they corrupted NASA.  You may recall that Obama redefined the space agency’s primary objective.  NASA is now responsible for improving cultural relations with Muslim nations.  And now it appears that the Department of Homeland Security needs to monitor the weather.  Perhaps we can save money by shutting down the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) if Napolitano can find her raincoat.

Bottom line?  Federal agencies, regardless of charter, will continue to be used as tools by this administration for the singular purpose of furthering the radical left agenda.  Terminology will be redefined in order to to divert the national conversation.  Great legacies, such as the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, will be hijacked and perverted to promote progressive, socialist agendas.  Bureaucracies will be expanded to dilute the balance of power provided by Congress and the judiciary.  All in an attempt to fundamentally transform the United States of America, based upon Obama’s narcissistic vision.  The rest of us are simply along for the ride.

But don’t worry.  DHS will keep us safe during this transformation.  In a recent interview with Diane Sawyer, Janet Napolitano offered some reassurance:

Sawyer: “but again, when we look around today with Newark airport and the false alarm there, and New York City has several of them, what do you say to the American people right now about the degree of anxiety that’s just realistic right now as we head into the holidays?”

Napolitano: “Well, what I say to the American people is that we are, thousands of people are working 24/7 , 364 days a year to keep the American people safe.”

I guess DHS must shut down for 24 hours on December 31.  We will have to check the weather for ourselves on that day without the help of Homeland Security.

One Response to Today’s Forecast: partially sunny with a 20% chance of terror.

Well Craig I do agree with you that at this moment in time there are much more pressing dangers we need to deal with but anyone out there who actually believes our climate is not changing is kidding him or herself. Our climate is changing, our climate always changes. History has proven this true time and again. We are heading into another period of change, albeit much slower than the alarmist would have you believe but it is changing none the less. I will not clutter up this comment box with “proven” facts by “reliable” sources but it is and will happen and it will be our children and their children who will suffer if we don’t start doing something about it. What needs to be done is open to debate but sooner or later the sky will fall and all those people who have been warning us since the 70′s will be rolling over in their graves. We need to be better shepards of our planet and stop abusing it or it will assuredly bite us in the ass somewhere down the line. Ira
